Concrete Water Proofing for Floors

If your basement needs concrete water proofing there are all kinds of options available for you and many of them suit the do-it-yourself-type as well. Waterproofing products for concrete floors mainly can be classified as sealants that can be applied to the floor as a liquid or as a membrane.

Concrete water proofing in its membrane floor is applied by spray, roller or a trowel. Although it is liquid when you apply it ages into a rubbery substance that coats the wall. These types of waterproofing products for concrete floors are made out of polymer modified asphalt or polyurethane liquids.

You can also by sheet membranes, which are self-adhering rubberized asphalt membranes that are laminated to a waterproof polyethylene film.  These sheets cost way more than the spray on or roll on waterproofing products for concrete floors but they are worth it.

You can also try a technique called cementitious waterproofing which is a fancy term for mixing up concrete and then applying it to your walls. You can also apply an acrylic additive to this product to make your basement floors even more waterproof.

Any of the above are good options for you when it comes to concrete waterproofing. It is highly likely that there is some kind of system out there on the market that best suits your budget.  Keep in mind that you get what you pay for as well. Cheaper concrete water proofing products may not protect your floors as well as other more expensive products for waterproofing concrete floors.
