Foundation waterproofing is absolutely essential if you are renovating your older home or building a new home. To avoid the expense associated with crack repair and foundation repair those who live in climates that get a lot of rain, tornadoes or hurricanes definitely need to spend a little money on foundation waterproofing. 

This is also true if you live by a river or lake that is known to flood often. For instance if you are building or repairing a new home in Louisiana or Florida it would be a good idea to invest in foundation waterproofing to try and ward off damage from the next big assault on your home from Mother Nature.  Those who live by the sea can also benefit from having a waterproofing procedure applied to the foundation of their home.
